Safety
The Idaho Falls Pride Board of Directors is committed to ensuring a safe Pride celebration for all attendees in Idaho Falls. As part of our safety plan, all Idaho Falls Pride events and space have implemented safety guidelines and a Community Code of Conduct to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
Safety Guidelines
-
If you see something, say something: Pride is about community. Look out for each other and report any suspicious persons or activity to event staff, event security officers or a police officer. In the event of an incident that requires the immediate attention of law enforcement or paramedics, please call 911.
-
First Aid: A first aid tent will be available at the Pride Festival staffed by Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, in the event of a medical emergency please call 911.
-
Day-of Volunteer Crew: In addition to our Idaho Falls Pride Board, we will have a number of volunteers on-site at the festival. They will be identifiable by their Stand Together Idaho Falls Pride t-shirts.
-
Security: All Idaho Falls Pride events will have trained security officers present, these officers can be identified by their bright yellow shirts.
-
Regional Resources & Partnerships: We have established formal relationships with the City of Idaho Falls, the Idaho Falls Police Department, the Western States Center, and other regional Pride organizations. We have compiled their advice, insights gained from past experiences, and recommendations to advise safety planning for all events. Special thanks to the North East Idaho Pride Alliance (NIPA) for sharing their experience and resources.
Community Code of Conduct
All participants and attendees of Idaho Falls Pride events are expected to behave with respect and peace towards all who are present in our shared spaces. This code of conduct applies to all Idaho Falls Pride spaces, including our social media channels, our public Facebook groups, comments on our website, and at Idaho Falls Pride hosted, sponsored, or co-sponsored public and private events.
-
Be Respectful: Idaho Falls Pride is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, age, race, or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form.
-
Consensual Content: We ask all event attendees including: volunteers, vendors, and attendees to be mindful of sharing and tagging content such as photos or videos. Please be sure your content is thoughtful, respectful, and embodies the mind of a peacekeeper. Do not make assumptions about fellow Pride attendees, their identities, and/or comfort with appearing in photos publicly. Please do your best to ask for consent before posting, sharing, and tagging.
-
Zero Engagement with Protesters: In the event of a protest, do not engage in negative dialogue or debate. Debating only serves to reinforce their belief they have a valid position. Our rights, freedom, dignity, and our lives are not debatable. Focus your energy on the community celebration rather than those attempting to distract from the purpose of our event. Protesters want attention. Don’t give it to them. Learn to internalize a total indifference to their presumed positions of authority.
Participants not adhering to the Community Code of Conduct will be asked to stop the behavior and are expected to comply immediately. If a participant does not follow the Community Code of Conduct after being asked the Idaho Falls Pride Board, staff, or other representatives may take any action they deem appropriate, up to and including expulsion from all Idaho Falls Pride spaces.
